California Sales Tax Decrease

Time flies. July is already here!

Here's important announcement from California State Board of Equalization:

"Effective July 1, 2011, the one percent sales and use tax rate increase that was approved with the state budget and effective April 1, 2009, will expire lowering the statewide base tax rate from 8.25 percent to 7.25 percent. In areas where there are voter-approved district taxes, the total tax rate related to sales and purchases will be the statewide base tax rate of 7.25 percent plus the applicable district tax."

What does this mean? We will collect 8.75% sales tax on all CA orders including those purchased from out of state but ship to CA. 8.75% sales tax is the sale tax rate for Los Angeles county, where we are a registered licensed business.

Shipments to Canada by USPS Suspended

Bad news!

As of June 17, 2011, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will stop accepting all mail service to Canada with the exception of Global Express Guaranteed. All current orders to Canada that have not yet been shipped, customers will have the options of canceling their order, placing order on hold, or ship by UPS Standard.

Canada Post On Strike Mail Suspended

Canada Post has suspended mail service across the country as of June 14, 2011. Sadly, packages we've shipped as out last week, will also be affected.

USPS has also announced that if a resolution is not reached by Friday, June 17, USPS may stop accepting shipments to Canada. However, USPS will only accept Global Express Guaranteed (GXG) service which is delivered by FedEx Express. Global Express Guaranteed (GXG)is currently not a shipping method we offer, due to it's high cost.

In the event, USPS stops accepting shipment to Canada on Friday, orders to Canada will be shipped by UPS Standard if customer agrees.

Changes to Pre-Order Policy

We've made some changes to our Pre-order Policy. The most drastic change is using PayPal to pay for pre-orders. We will no longer charge your PayPal payment if the order contains pre-order items only.

Here's why? :

Item release delays.
Item cancellation due to lack of orders received by manufacturer.
PayPal requires us to bill customer ASAP.

PayPal requires us to charge a customer within 29 days of order placement and allows 60 days for refund. If a customer decides to cancel a pre-order 90 days after order placement, we are unable to issue a direct refund. Also, PayPal already charged us the transaction fee, which is more than the standard rate we receive directly from the banks. To offset this cost, we are forced to charge customer fees to cover the expense of order cancellation.

When do I pay for a pre-order using PayPal? When the pre-order item arrives, we will send you a PayPal invoice via email in which you can pay for the order using the secure link provided. The order will be canceled if payment is not received in 14 days.

Additional changes to pre-order policy:

Order with in stock items and pre-order items: We can hold in stock items for 2 months only. If your pre-order arrives 3-6 months later, sorry, pre-order will be shipped separately with additional shipping fee.
For PayPal orders: If your order contains a pre-order item and in stock item, we will only bill you for the in stock items and send you a PayPal invoice to pay for the pre-order item when it arrives. Sorry, we cannot hold your in stock items for PayPal orders.

Okay, this has nothing to do with Circle Red. Just a memo for myself. ^_^

Need to fill gas tank the day before serving.

Wear comfortable WALKING SHOES. Walking from free parking by the Disney Concert Hall to Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, is exhausting. Estimated time 20-25 minutes. The walk back to the parking lot, going uphill, so not fun, especially when you are out of shape. There is a BUS, BRING QUARTERS, if you don't want to walk.

SUNTAN LOTION, really hot at downtown, you can feel the sun burn your skin, even at 80 something degrees.

TRAFFIC is terribly slow.

NEED TO ARRIVE EARLY at 7:45 A.M, if you want a seat when orientation starts. Not enough seats, jury assembly room, very crowded and stuffy.

At Jury orientation, found out that there is actually free WIFI. Need to bring LAPTOP (for entertainment or catch up on work), EARPHONES, and CELL PHONE with web access (free WIFI blocks access to social media sites such facebook and twitter.) Need to sit near an ELECTRIC OUTLET (laptop need charging).

Bring water, soda, cookies, gum, etc.

Don't throw away Certificate of Jury service. ^_^

Mari Illustrious Makinami is an Evangelion pilot strictly introduced into the franchise during the 4-part theatrical remake series Rebuild of Evangelion, in the second installment Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. She is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto in the Japanese version. Little is known about her as of yet except that she is the pilot of the Provisional Evangelion Unit-05 which differs from previous incarnations drastically featuring four mechanical "legs" that end in wheels and a lack of hands which have been replaced with a jousting lance and "claw". Because of its unique design, Mari pilots her Eva wearing a helmet-like contraption and her plugsuit is equipped with several attachments that connect to tubing that apparently help her in moving the Evangelion. Mari's designation amongst the other Children has yet to be revealed. She self destructs Unit-05 to defeat one of the Angels in the films opening but manages to escape unharmed. During the film's climax she steals Unit-02 to battle the 10th Angel.

Coyly posed peeking over her shoulder with a cute grin, Mari kneels in her distinctive pink plug suit. The vividly colored outfit is ultra-tight and hugs every curve of her body. The feminine young pilot can be displayed in two ways: with or without her unique removable red glasses. Mari rests with one hand on a miniature rock-like bust of the Beast Mode EVA Unit-02. Her outfit and base perfectly match those of Rei and Asuka, making them three of a kind. Standing 9" tall (in 1/6th scale), Mari was crafted by Bishoujo sculptor Tsukuru Shirahige.
